Football 101 Raises $50,000 For Charities
Lincoln - A capacity crowd of nearly 1,000 Husker fans attended the 2009 Football 101 event on Tuesday, June 2, presented by the Southeast Nebraska Cancer Center and the Bo Pelini Foundation.



The event was held at the University of Nebraska’s athletic facilities as a fund-raiser to help in the fight against breast cancer. Husker Wrestling Recruits #3 in nation
Lincoln – Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine (WIN) recently announced the University of Nebraska’s incoming class is ranked third in the nation, according to the publications 2008-09 recruiting class rankings. Minnesota took top honors, while Oklahoma State was second. Oklahoma and Virginia Tech rounded out the top five.

Three Huskers Selected in NFL Draft
Three Nebraska players were selected on day two of the 2009 National Football League Draft. Linebacker Cody Glenn was the first Husker selected in round five, followed by offensive linemen Matt Slauson and Lydon Murtha. Three other Huskers had agreed to free-agent contracts as of Sunday evening.

Sanders Earns Nebraska Hero Award
Lincoln - Senior Robert Sanders captured one of Nebraska's top individual Life Skills awards on Monday, when he was honored at the third annual Hero Leadership Recognition Breakfast at Memorial Stadium.

Sanders, a 149 pounder from Blanding, Utah, finished his athletic career this March as a two-time NCAA qualifier for the Nebraska wrestling team. In the classroom, he was named to the Academic All-Big 12 team twice and to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll five times.
